Burano and Torcello Photo Gallery
These two lagoon islands are less than an hour from Venice and no more than ten from one another. Burano is characterized by sleepy little courtyards and canals lined with picturesque buildings that literally explode with color. Torcello, whose settlement dates to Roman time, is sparsely inhabited, but it is the site of a beautiful old cathedral and offers a bit of peace away from the crowds of Venice.
